Field Trip Fun!!

I was blessed enough to be able to accompany Avery on a field trip yesterday, and I mean BLESSED!! What an awesome time!! Thanks to Manny for watching Emma, Mom for taking Seth, and Dawn for having Gabe after school. It's amazing how many favors it takes for one special afternoon, but it was so worth it!!

Avery's class had been raising and studying kokanee fish , right from eggs and it was time to release them!! They had fish and wildlife officers there, educating and engaging the kids, answering and asking questions, and helping them release their 'friends'. What fun!! It was sunny and perfect!

Here is Ave with her first releasee!! (They each got a couple of turns).



Here they are letting them go, very carefully, assisted by the 'wildlife guy' in a life jacket coat- just in case. The water was pretty crazy there, it is the confluence between two rivers.

After this, we went further up the road to a man made creek that was constructed for the rainbow trout when they dammed up Williston Lake. It was sooooo awesome. There were fish everywhere, swimming upstream, flopping and jumping and struggling against the current. ( I could totally relate) Lol!! It was a celebration when you saw a fish finally make it to the calm area and be able to rest! Under a canopy of green, with the water flowing, what could be better?

I am pretty sure it's a little piece of Gabe's heaven, and I am planning to take him tomorrow, if I have all of those favors called in again!! He is gonna love it!!

Ave wanted me to come pretty badly, but honestly, I don't think she really cared that I was there, for all the attention I got! Of course I did have to take her for a 'hike' to pee in the bush TWICE!! Crazy kid!

Anyway, It was a wonderful day, and I am so thankful.
