Well folks, it's been a while- again! I tell ya, I try to write, but the phone rings and the kids are hungry... you get the picture! So this'll be a point-form update. I know y'all don't mind, right?
- My Ave is growing up. Started to get a little eeww under the arms, so we went deoderant shopping together. I was unimpressed to find that there are NO 'deoderants' here in town, only deoderant/antiperspirants! As she doesn't sweat, she doesn't yet need any extra chemicals put on her young skin! Grrrr.
- Anyway... I also visited the library for some 'growing upish' books, you know to help me let her know about all these body changes coming up. THE BOOKS ARE HORRIFYING!!!! Look before you buy, and look before you let your child read them!! Yikes. From creepy story books about troll-looking 'Mr. and Mrs. Hormone' who live dormant in your body until puberty, to books explaining (to little girls) what what happens to a boy at night(yeah, that!), to books telling about how when Mommy was little she got 'bosoms' and liked them! Who writes this crap???
- Finally I found a highly recommended book called 'The care and keeping of you". It doesn't explain sex, or anything about a teenage boys body. It is a guide to the changes that are coming, that are normal, and how and why to take care of yourself through it. It also breifly discusses appropriate (and not appropriate) touching, etc. It is perfect for this age. I ordered it from Amazon.ca and it's in the mail!
- Enough about that! (I know all of you with wee ones are so glad it's not you, and all of you with older ones are laughing at me!!)
- I got my hair cut. It's pretty cute, a long bob, all one length. I also dyed it. It's called 'the halo effect', I'm told, red at the crown, darkening to almost black at the bottom. I like it, I hope Ryan does.
- Ry got his first pay stub today, and I am trying not to go crazy! He said he was tired until he looked at it!!Lol!! I know money doesn't make a bad life better, but It helps when you have an amazing life, and could just use a little more freedom and a little less worry!! Lol!!
- My best friend's hubby is interviewing for a job in TR (where Ry is) tomorrow and he's staying tonite with Ryan. I am praying that Dale gets the job, since a) he'll be closer to home, and b) my honey will have some company that he actually likes!! Haha!!
- My Grandma is up visiting from Salmon Arm and I am enjoying seeing her. Making every minute count!!
- I started a group called the 'Left Behind Ladies Club' on Tuesday mornings at 10 am. If anyone in Mack reads this- come!! It's for all or any of us who have been 'left behind' by husbands who are working, or even all of our friends. (Seriously, in the last year I have lost five close couple friends- I know, I was lucky to have that many to begin with, but still- IT SUCKS!) Anyway, we met and enjoyed some laughs, and the kids played and it was fun! That's what we need around here! Fun and new friends!
- I am so excited that my friend Andrea is coming up for a visit!! Yahoo. I need her here!! Can't wait!!
- My kids are awesome!! Gabe is reading like a maniac, he is so smart!! He has been enjoying the outdoors, and almost always has a 'creature' in hand!
- Seth still refuses to walk- but he's been standing up on his own, without holding onto anything, he squats, and stands. I think it'll be soon!! He loves to talk to his daddy on the phone- he smiles and laughs. It is so cute!!
- Emma is having some issues, or rather, I am! She has a little friend who is growing up in a home very different from ours. Very unsupervised, scary movies, a 'mean' big brother, and coming home with a new and not acceptable vocabulary. But this little girl is sweet to the core. Is it her fault where she is growing up? How do I protect Emma but let her love her friend? I think I'll have to make them play here, but my sassy, and feisty Emma will not like it much! Still, I am worried about who' surroundings are influencing who. Enough said.
- ONLY 8 more days till we see my honey!! YAHOO!! I can't wait! We only get him for 4 days, but I'll take it. I hope it'll be enough to have some fun, and still get him some rest before he starts the next 23!!
- Well, I think that's it for now. I am tired and need to go tuck in the kids. (Yes, the ones that were supposed to go to bed at 8 tonite!!)
- Blessings all, I love ya!!

I love yoU!
We started the "eww" pits with Jaala in the fall...I KNOW how frustrating it is to shop for non antipersperant! Let me give you a tip, Addidas has a plain deo, there are hemp based deo's and crystal rock deo's....prolly not widely available in your town, so I'll get some and send them to ya!
I hear ya about the body changes books, some of them are nuts!
I have had the same dilema about my kids with their dad's step kids....very different situation and many behaviors that I am NOT fond of...boys talking about "the most dangerous snake in their pants", adult and mature rated shooter video games etc. How does one counter those things when there is no cooperation from the other parent....I'll let you know when I find out.
Thanks for the update!
Trichee
(and yes, I was kind of laughing at your dilemma with older kids, but you can bet, I WILL be calling you in 6-8 years for advice!)
