Weekend with Daddy...

Hi friends!! There is much happening, and I am a tired, and blessed lady. Thought I'd fill ya in a bit. We just completed Ryan's second set of 24 days away, and the kids and I took a day to go and pick him up from Tumbler Ridge. It's about a three hour drive, and we got there in good time. We had a great day planned, swimming at the aquatic center at 1, the dinosaur museum, and possible a hike to see some waterfalls, if we had time.

Well, after hugs and kisses with Daddy, we headed to the pool- but guess what? The schedule had changed for fall, but they hadn't posted the new hours. So.. no swimming until 6 pm. Yikes! That would get us home at 10 ish at the earliest, on a school nite! So we thought we'd hit the museum, which Gabe had been talking about for days. Guess what?? It was closed!! And I mean- really closed!! They were moving to a new location. Gabe was absolutely amazing, though and didn't even cry- (that's big, believe me).

Sooo... we went to see the falls. When we got to the pull out, we had the choice of two trails- one to the falls, and one to see some real dino tracks. Well, Gabe pulled rank and we took the trail traveled by prehistoric creatures. Here he is by an aged footprint.

It was a great hike, and we were tired when we were done!! We started out with Seth on Daddy's back, but he kept screaming and yelling and trying to reach 'Mommy', so we swapped!!

After that it was into the van for the ride home. We had agreed with the kids, that we'd stop at the pool in Chetwynd so they could swim there, and we'd have some of the drive out of the way. However... The pool was closed for all of September!! HAHAHAHA!!!! Oh my!!

So we went home.

On Saturday was the Children's Carnival, hosted by the churches here in town. My parents head it up, and so the family is pretty involved. I spent most of Saturday helping set up and run games as well as songs and the skit this year. It was great fun, as always, but exhausting!!

As soon as it was over, we packed up the kids again and went to the city for a night together 'away'. Stayed in a great hotel, hot tubs and waterslides, and shopped too. It was wonderful!! Ryan and Gabe went to see the new Star Wars movie and loved it!! We came home Sunday evening.

Somewhere in there was my Avery Dawn's 9th birthday! Last night we got the family together to celebrate, and had cakes and ice cream- mmmm... we are planning for her 'friend' party, which we'll blog about when it happens!! Lol!!
Ryan left first thing this morning, poor guy. I am not well rested, and I don't think he is either.

I turn 32 on Friday, and it's funny because up until a month ago, I thought I already WAS 32!! Lol!! Ah well, I guess I won't age this year!

Sadly before that happy occasion, there is an incredibly sad one. Dawn and I are traveling to Grande Cache for the funeral of a much loved man. Our friends' father passed away this week, and I am just aching for them. It will be a quick trip, but I just feel that I need to be there.

I must say that this week has been weird. For those of you who don't know, most of my growing up was done in Tumbler and Grande Cache. I haven't been to either place in over 15 years, I think. I survived a series of T.R. flashbacks, and now I hope I'll survive the G.C. ones. It's odd taking a solitary walk down memory lane, and It's scraped up a few things that I'd forgotten.

Obviously I am a bit weary and sentimental (maybe just mental). I've been having a few health issues and it sucks. Pray lots, and be thankful for all the blessings in your life. I know I am.

Anyway, don't forget to comment. Even if there is nothing to say, I love to see your names. Hugs to you all, Char

I tried to be a smart alec and just post a blank comment (so you could see my name) but blogger was wise to me and wouldn't let me.
Sounds like a great weekend, (good thing GP wasn't closed) so sorry you have to go to GC for such a sad time.
