We went fishing with my Dad a while back. Set some ling lines, and caught a few. My dad was showing Gabe how to skin them, and filet them. There is a certain way you can do it, so you basically rip the skin off in one big piece.

Gabe watched as his Grandpa made it look so easy. After a few moments, he said "Grandpa, how come we don't just do that with all the fish we catch?"
Grandpa took a deep breath and sighed. "Well, Gabee, cause all fish aren't the same."
Got me thinking a little. How often do we find ourselves trying to treat everyone around us the same? I don't really mean in our actions- I mean, in our expectations?
Why do we forget that everyone is created with different giftings? Someone who is an incredible singer, may not know to hang their pictures at eye level. One who is an extraordinary housekeeper, may not handle conflict well. Someone who loves to give and is very generous may not be able to balance their checkbook. Crafting, Dancing, Encouraging, Grammar, Sports, Learning, Remembering, Truthfulness, there are so many different things to be good at.
Think of the biblical 'fruits' of the spirit.

Galatians 5:22-23
New International Version
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Do you have any of those fruits? I bet you have some of them. Even I have some of them- sometimes. We don't even expect ourselves to have all of those qualities. Why do we expect others to?
I suppose I am asking you to look at the people who annoy you the most. The ones that just aren't living up to your expectations. Think about why you are expecting that. And then think about something that they are gifted at. Remind yourself that we are all different- just like fish!

Or rocks. One more thing to add to my point here. See all these pretty rocks? It's so much fun to pick them up and examine them one by one, searching for something that makes you smile. What you'll notice, if you take the time, is that they are ALL beautiful. Different, and wonderful.

But it's when they are all together that they make the prettiest picture. Just like the rocks, our differences are complimentary to one another. You make the world a better and prettier place... and so does the person who most annoys you. :)
Be a blessing... and be blessed!!
