I had the privilege yesterday of volunteering at the elementary schools fundraiser 'the Christmas store'. The kids can bring money designated for certain individuals, and choose, and wrap gifts for family members. That way it is a surprise for those receiving gifts. It teaches the kids about balancing their money to buy for everyone, and how to choose something on their own. I love it!!
Anyway, yesterday I was working in the 'store' when Avery's class came through. She had already decided to buy me something from elsewhere, so she chose her items and away she went. When we got home, she found her piggy bank and emptied it, counted her money and then asked me if she could borrow just a couple of dollars. I asked what it was for, and she said she wanted to get me something from the Christmas store. She said it was something that I really wanted and she really wanted to get it for me. I asked more, thinking that there was nothing there that I had seen that I REALLY wanted, and wondering what she was talking about.
To make a long story short, I realized in the middle of the night that she wanted to buy me the tiny ipod speakers that she had seen. What a sweetheart!!She knew that I'd been looking at and wishing for an ipod with speakers and she'd payed attention. I was so blessed by her thoughtfulness. Of course I had to tell her that you needed an ipod to go with it, and I wouldn't be getting one for quite some time. She was disapointed, as she had thought the ipod came with the speakers. (it was in the picture), but we laughed and smiled at how wonderful she is instead.
All this to say that I love my beautiful big girl. She is thoughtful, a good listener and I think will continue to be a great gift giver!!!

Awwww! Just like her mama!
The apple sure doesn't fall far from the tree!
What a sweetie!
That's very sweet. And you can remind her when she's a teenager and she conveniently "forgets" her curfew or whatever that you KNOW she's a good listener!
