The Race Track

So this year, a large part of our family did what we call a "Homemade Christmas". We are not huge sticklers, and in fact I ended up buying two robes as gifts when I found them literally $30 cheaper than the fabric was going to cost me.

We love the creativity that comes out in each of us, and how even the kids begin to think about what their cousins really like. When the kids are small- those ideas can need a translator! For example, Seth told Grandma that his Dad loves cows, and cows are his favorite animal. This is totally untrue, but upon investigation, she heard that every trip we take, when Dad sees a cow out the window he yells "COW!! MOOOO!!" Lol- that IS totally true! So of course, he must love cows, right? :)

This year, Seth had seen some 'checkered flag' fabric at the hardware store and continually told me that I should make him something with it, for homemade Christmas. Finally I had a great idea, and spend an entire day making it, as I couldn't find anything like it online to use as a pattern. I had to take it out a few times, to get it right, (because forward thinking and planning are not my strong suits), but I was patient with myself, and thrilled with the result.

Each week when we go to church, Seth brings a car or two to keep himself occupied. Same when we're at the doctors, or the school, or in the car... in a restaurant. You get the picture. Usually he has the cars in his arms and hands, and we have made trip to go back and find the one that's fallen. I thought I'd created a bag for a couple of cars, (he has three favorites), and a little race track that he can play on.

He still thanks me every day for it! I really thought that the 'it' gift this year would be something he'd asked for everyday, and got! But it seems, this one is the winner. :) Brings me so much joy to know that I knew my son well enough to bless him with the perfect gift. I hope that keeps up! Lol!!

Oh- and he does call it his Car Purse! Lol!! :)

What a great idea, you have a marketable item there only it take the exclusiveness away from Seth.
