Today has been an eventful day. Woke up and got the laundry put away, dishwasher loaded and kids dressed. Dawn called and we decided to go for a walk to the library and to pick up the mail.
On our way, we saw a young boy, maybe 10 years old fall off of his bike in the middle of the road. He'd been carrying a full can of paint on his handlebar, which splashed everywhere, and he was very slow to get up. Leaving Dawn on the opposite side of the road with all of the kids, I headed over to get his bike off of him. He stood up, and was definately hurt, tears just pouring down, but seemed okay. Then he looked down at his foot. "Uh oh," He said, "I think I broke my toe".
Indeed.
I followed his glance and saw that his big toe was bent at a very un-natural 90 degree angle to his foot. OUCH!! Anyway, by this time Dawn had come to see if we were alright. I decided to leave her with all of the kids and run back to get my van and take the boy to the hospital. As God would have it, though, He had a better plan. Brought a police car by just then, who we flagged down and told him the story. He immediately took over and we were off!! Wow!! Our kids were so good. They waited on the side of the road for at least ten minutes, just watching. I was so proud.
When we got to the post office- more good news!! We both had checks there for us, from the government. I had no idea these were coming, so WoooHooo!! Things are great.
Visited with Dawn and the kids at their place for a while, then came home and got Ry. Went to get some groceries, and now it's wind down time. A great summer day. God Bless, all, Char
