Unexpected Joys...

Did you see the title of this post "Unexpected Joys"?? Yes, you are all thinking "Wow!! she found some money!!" ha ha, NOPE!! These joys are just those in everyday life. Those things that stop you and make you smile, give you a pinch of joy in the midst of monotony. I thought I'd share.

Yesterday I was about to do the dishes. I turned on the water and grabbed the melon-scented detergent from the counter. I must've squeezed it too hard because I got a burst of soapy air right in my face. After blinking quickly and rubbing my nose to keep from sneezing, I looked up and saw an array of tiny bubbles floating about in the sunlight, making little iridescent rainbows all over my kitchen.

It was beautiful.

Emma went for a play date with Grandma, and Grandma bought her a sprinkle donut as a treat. She brought the second half of it home with her to eat later. When we opened it in the afternoon, I was dismayed to see that all of sprinkles had disintegrated and were running together in a big sloppy mess. I held my breath as Emma opened it... waiting for the inevitable eruption of hostility....
Instead, I heard a tiny intake of breath, and "Look Mommy!! My donut made a rainbow!! We wrapped it up and put it in the fridge and all the sprinkles worked together to make a rainbow!!! Look at this!!!" I had to smile.

I also had to hear about it for the rest of the day. ;)

This morning Gabe was putting his cereal bowl in the sink, (that alone is a victory) where the crock pot was full of soapy water, soaking from yesterdays dinner. He put his bowl in, and it floated lazily across the crock pot, the spoon tilting up over the side. "Mommy!! It's a floating boat, and a fishing rod!! A floating boat and a fishing rod!!"

Another smile.

I hope that your days are as full of wonderful blessings as mine. They are all around if we can just take a moment to appreciate them.

I often close my posts with 'God Bless You'. In general I am saying that I want wonderful things to befall each of you reading this. That God will reach out and show you joy. However, I read this week that the word "bless" , in one language, means "to interrupt". How wonderful to have God 'interrupt' your life with something wonderful to get our attention!!

God Bless, all!!
