My Avery Dawn makes me laugh. When she was a baby, her dad called her princess silly heart, and it still suits her!! She is kind, considerate, and gentle. But she is also independant, perfectionistic and hard working. Add vibrant and funny to the mix, and you get a pretty amazing child!!
I love the evenings, when I get to tuck her in. The other kids all sleep upstairs, so she reads as I tuck them in, and then I head downstairs to her room. She always has a smile, and sometimes grabs my arm when I turn to leave. Her eyes get huge and her smile gets huger as she begs "Don't go!!"
Last night I'd gone to home group, and we wrapped up the video series we've been working on about parenting. An amazing couple from our church came as well, and shared some of the right and wrong things they felt they'd done in raising thier kids. (They are now grandparents). One thing stood out to me in a big way! They said that their girls went 'crazy' when they turned 12!!
Yikes!! For me, that means I have only a year and a half until Avery goes crazy. :) There are already times when she gets a bit moody on me, but so far we're working it out nicely together.
As I tucked her in last night, I laughed and told her to remember that I'd still love her when she turned 12 and went crazy.
Avery: "Why am I going to go crazy?"
Me: "Hormones, I'm guessing."
Avery: (fingers lifting up and down like she was playing a trumpet) -Is that like a trombone???
AH ha ha ha!! I laughed so hard, before I calmed down and explained what hormones are and what they do to poor innocent little girls!! Lol!
I'll take all the love I can get while I can!!

Oh my gosh....I love that girl!!! :o) I'm so thankful we get to go through the "trombone" years together! We might need each others shoulders to cry on! I guess that means if one of us moves.....the other has to follow! lol ;o)
You know, I've worked with a ton of teen girls and lots do have trombone problems, but many weather the storm nicely and are a lot of fun. May that be true with Miss A!
