Sometimes, we are a mess.
Our situation-al mess is all over us, sticky as melted marshmallow.
A lot of the time there's nothing we can do to help ourselves. It's too late. It's too sticky for us to clean up by ourselves.
People walk around us in a wide berth, so we don't 'touch them' with our mess.
Heaven forbid we bring anyone else into it.
Sometimes we just cry, and continue to try in vain to get the sticky crap off of ourselves.
Or we just make it worse.
But once in a while, there is someone who will take you just as you are. Marshmallow and all. Sometimes they'll clean you up, and even laugh with you about the whole thing.
If you don't have a friend in your lift who would do this for you, you can have a God.
In Psalm 40:16, David says:
" But all who are hunting for you— oh, let them sing and be happy. Let those who know what you're all about tell the world you're great and not quitting. And me? I'm a mess. I'm nothing and have nothing: make something of me. You can do it; you've got what it takes— but God, don't put it off."
God knows each of our messes. He isn't afraid to get it on Him, while He helps us clean it up. He can handle it. :) And even more amazing news? He wants to.
P.S. This verse is taken from the Message Bible, which is a paraphrase. It's not what I usually use, but it's fun to read 'the same old thing' in a new way. :)
Be Blessed,
