Home

Hello friends,

We have arrived home after a long four days. It wasn't all bad, in fact, we had quite a bit of fun, even on the long drive. We brought Dad's walkie talkies, so we could visit with Ed and Manny on the way. We had a lot of laughs!!
Almost there, and we hit really bad roads. We were actually stopped on the side of the road once, running out of the van to help a truck flipped upside down in the ditch. We were so tired, but it's amazing what adreneline can do to you. Anyway, the people/person from the accident had already been rescued, they just hadn't or couldn't turn the lights off. We saw numerous other upside down vehicles, with tow trucks flashing their lights in the dark. Met with an ambulance rushing to help. Ed and Manny came over the crest of a hill to see a volkswagon van right accross teh road in front of them. It was close!! Praise God that we were safe, and our children were able to see our answers to prayer.
Anyway, the memorial was good, we had it at the bingo hall, and my Dad was the MC. I was really proud of him, as half the gathering was old folks (Grandma's friends) and he got them to stand and share some of their memories with us. It was really wonderful, so many people loved her. It sure reinforced to me though, that someone always has it worse than you. I feel bad for myself, because I know my heart already misses her, but I felt worse for my Mom. Then I met Grandma's best friend. She is old and frail, and wept like I've never seen. Helplessly, just crying 'I don't know what I'm going to do without her'. Oh my heart. I can't imagine losing a best friend. The one you talk to eveyday, spend all your time with, have a lifetime of memories with. And you just can't replace that.
I am sitting the boys today, but expect Mom back anytime. Then it's on the trying to make a life here in Mackenzie. I've been so busy that I don't really know just where I fit yet. It'll come, I know.
So... more later if I get a chance, and I'll try to get the digital hooked up and post a few pics. In the meantime, please pray for my Mom and Dad, and everyone who is feeling lonely. Hugs, Char
