Pretzel Practice


Hey Friends, tonite was DRAGGING, so I thought the kids and I would make something. I had frozen all the mushy bananas, banana muffins were out, but I remembered that I had bought some yeast, or 'east' to Gabe. Sooo... we got out the Company's Coming cookbook, and away we went.

Here is what they are supposed to look like....

Recipe for Soft Pretzels by Company's Coming

1/2 c. warm water

1 tsp sugar

Envelope active yeast

Warm water

1 tsp sugar

All purpose flour, approx 3, 3/4 cups

1 egg, fork beaten

1 tbsp. water

course salt, sesame seeds to sprinkle

Stir first amount of water and sugar in a small bowl until dissolved. Sprinkle yeast over top. Let stand for 10 minutes. Stir to dissolve yeast.

Stir second amounts of water and sugar in large bowl until sugar is dissolved. Add salt and yeast mixture.

Gradually mix in flour until stiff dough forms. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Let rest for 10 min. Divide dough into 12 equal portions.Roll into 15'' rope. Shape into pretzels. Arrange on greased baking sheets.

Brush with remaining egg and water (mixed) Brush tops of each pretzel.

Sprinke salt and sesame seeds over pretzels. Bake at 425degrees for about 15 min.

Man, I need a digital camera, then I could show you my babies. It looked like soooo much fun OOHHH guess what! Jaala has the exact same pj's as avery is wearing! SO CUTE.
