Sandpaper People

The other day was a hard one for my mom. She had a friend over, who listened and then on her way out said. "For today, stay away from sandpaper people." She hugged her and left.

Well my mom thought it was genius. She came over to my house for coffee. I too was having 'one of those days'. Hurting for people that I loved, avoiding jobs I didn't want to do, annoyed at people who couldn't just figure it out themselves.

She shared her new quote with me, and I can't say I was blown away.

But later I spent a bit more time thinking about it. And I agree.

Some people are like sandpaper. They are rough, abrasive, they rub you the wrong way, and they hurt you. They scar you, and scrape you and they wear you down.

You know the ones. The always needy ones. The poor me ones. The I'm so much better than you ones. The ones that don't stop talking. Ever. The ones that tell you how great they are and how they do so much. The ones who gossip so much about other people that you wonder what they say about you when they leave. What about the ones who pick out everyone else's faults despite overlooking their own? There are billions of possibilities once you get your imagination going.

There are many days when we can listen to the crap that falls out of mouths, and just nod and walk away. Or say something appropriate and walk away.

But when we're having a bad day, obviously, we are not at our best. A little of ourselves is already in hiding from whatever situation we find our-selves in.

Those are not the days to rub up to a sandpaper person. These are the days to get away before we do some serious harm!! Lol!!

Now, MY sandpaper person may not be yours. In fact, (lol) I could be yours!! :)

Although this analogy only goes so far, it's not a bad one.

Sometimes it's okay to just walk the other way and save yourself a bit of grief.

Hugs!! And Good Luck!!
